MAINTENANCE CREW LEADER

Salary $300 weekly + room and board
As the maintenance crew leader, you will be responsible for leading and directing the maintenance crew under the supervision of the Site Manager.  The maintenance crew is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary and safe environment in every area of the campsite.  The maintenance crew assists in keeping the camp buildings and grounds in good repair.  Duties will include but are not limited to cleaning, sweeping, mopping buildings and bathrooms, collecting and disposing of garbage, setting up tables and chairs when requested, cutting and trimming the grass on a regular basis, painting and repairing camp buildings.  


Minimum Qualifications
· Must be at least 18 years old.
· Must have previously worked on the maintenance crew at this camp or a similar institution. 
· Has proven leadership ability and the ability to work with others.
· Is mature as a person and in his/her Christian faith.
· Has a working knowledge of camp maintenance needs and the procedures necessary to meet these needs.
· Has proven skills in maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, mowing, and basic carpentry and the ability to teach and supervise others in these areas.
Responsible To
· The Camp Director or whomever he places in charge during his absence.
· The Site Manager who has oversight of maintenance concerns.
· The Staff Advisor when living in Clayton Hall and when involved in other than maintenance responsibilities.
General Responsibilities
· To accept the camp’s Mission Statement and work toward its basic objectives.
· To give daily leadership to the paid staff who are assigned to the maintenance crew.
· To schedule and assign projects and tasks for the maintenance crew.
· To work with the Site Manager to develop a team spirit among the maintenance crew.
· To develop a good rapport with each volunteer Session Leader so that the needs of each can be quickly and adequately met.
· To provide evaluations of staff members when asked by the camp leadership.
Specific Responsibilities
· To train the maintenance crew during orientation and lead them in preparing the grounds and buildings for the opening of camp.
· To train the maintenance crew in safety procedures and monitor this during the camping season
· To be familiar with all the responsibilities and procedures listed in the “Maintenance Manual” and see that they are carefully followed.
· To be observant of developing maintenance needs and see that they are taken care of promptly.
· To quickly respond in good spirit to needs cited by the volunteer Session Leaders.
· To observe the efforts of the maintenance crew members and take immediate action when tasks are not being adequately completed.

A maintenance crew member is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary and safe environment in every area of the campsite.  The maintenance crew assists in keeping the camp buildings and grounds in good repair.  Duties will include but are not limited to cleaning, sweeping, mopping buildings and bathrooms, collecting and disposing of garbage, setting up tables and chairs when requested, cutting and trimming the grass on a regular basis, painting and repairing camp buildings under the supervision of the crew leader.

· Is willing to work hard and follow directions as given.

· Learn the various maintenance procedures during staff orientation.
· Assist in preparing the building and grounds prior to the opening of camp.
· Be familiar with the responsibilities and procedures listed in the “Maintenance Manual” and follow them carefully.
· Assist in cleaning the sanitary facilities on a regular basis.
· Assist in the cleaning of all buildings as assigned.
· Assist in collecting and disposing of garbage and trash on a regular basis.
· Assist in cutting and trimming the grass on a regular basis.
· Assist in the painting, repairing, restoring, etc. of camp buildings and equipment.
· Learn to use and maintain power equipment in accordance with the strict safety standards of the camp.
· Assist in setting up chairs, tables, and other equipment for the varying programs of the summer camping season.
· Always display a helpful spirit when given special maintenance requests by the camp leadership, including the volunteer Session Leaders.
· Be willing to accept other camp responsibilities that may be assigned.
